Rugby Match To Benefit Breast Cancer Awareness

FEBRUARY 13TH, 7.30PM, ST THOMAS HS, HOUSTON

St. Thomas High School and Pink Ribbons Project have joined forces again for Rugby-for-a-Cause, which benefits the breast cancer awareness organization.

Rugby teams from St. Thomas and St. Pius high schools compete starting at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 13 at Hotze Field on the STHS campus. A banquet honoring the rugby players follows the game.

More than 1,000 people attended last year’s game in support of Rugby-for-a-Cause, with more than 300 attending the honoree banquet. The event, which is the only one of its kind in the country, raised more than $10,000 for Pink Ribbons Project.

Brett Mills, assistant head rugby coach for St. Thomas, organized the event in honor of his grandmother who had breast cancer. “Through teamwork, we were able to pull off a wonderful evening of breast cancer awareness and rugby,” Coach Mills said. “The match was a huge event and we hope to grow it into something even bigger and better next year.”

Tickets to the game cost $10, with banquet packages available.
